A Tale of Two Worlds!By Steven ChristensenFergus O'Neil is having a really bad day having lost his construction contract job and his wife leaving him as well. Returning from England he makes a brief stop in his hometown in Colorado but then decides to travel on to a parcel of land he owns in the wilderness of Alaska to spend the summer and build a permanent cabin. Things go well for a couple of months then in late August one day he discovers a woman lying beside Moose Creekunconscious and bleeding. Gus takes her back to his cabin, treats her wounds and once she revives she tells him a chilling story of what has happened. In the author's note at the front of the book I quote...."There is no impenetrable barrier that separates the "real world" from the "spirit world"..and this forms the premise for this haunting book. I will leave it to the reader to explore this apparent connection. The author has written a fantastic tale set in the wilds of Alaska. His prose is clear and very descriptive and as I read the book I felt I was right beside Gus as he faces the daily challenges of survival both physically and mentally. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Gus and his best friend Haywood, a sometimes bush pilot who helps Gus on his summer adventure. This is the first of three books in the series and is fantastic. I highly recommend it.20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Compeling, and commendably solid...By Mark McCormickIn his debut novel, Mr. Delany displays a pacing and control of the plot and characters that one expects from a more expierenced writer. His characters come to life on the page and with wink and an eye for the wry aside, Delany fleshes out that special relationship between men who are more than friends, who support each other, no matter what. His description of the remote Alaskan landscape deftly paints the picture for the reader and the adventure this tale takes you on is infused with a well-balanced mix of adventure, confessional narrative, and gothic creepines. Looking forward to the next tale.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The descriptions of the area makes you want to move to the Alaskan bush and homestead.By CustomerAn action adventure, set in the Alaska bush, during a summer sojourn while a man builds a cabin and reflects upon his life. Recently downsized and divorced he finds he must rely on his wits to overcome the problems he encounters. The descriptions of the area makes you want to move to the Alaskan bush and homestead. For good measure there is also more than a touch of the paranormal thrown into the mix to keep your interest peaked.I have rated this book 4 stars.I obtained this book from in Kindle format.
