I have read all of Lustbader's follow-ups to Ludlum's Bourne series, and have generally been impressed. In most ways I feel he is Ludlum's equal regarding intricate plot creation, surprises, knowledge of foreign cities, dialogue. In certain ways he outshines Ludlum in his knowledge of weaponry. He has less ongoing character interaction than Ludlum, which I found neither adding or detracting- just somewhat different. Some of his metaphors I found overly crude and took me out of the story, and I feel there is an overuse of metaphors. But it's wasn't preventative once I got used to it. I think Ludlum paints a setting more elegantly. The particular reason I give this book less than 5 Stars is that the end is a pseudo-end and not a complete novel within itself, at least not satisfactorily to me. I discovered you have to read the next book to find out what happens. (This is not true of the previous Lustbader Bourne books, which are complete within themselves.) There's a simple solution to it: Make is Dominion- Part 1 and the next book Part 2. Additionally, however, and again, I didn't find this with the previous Lustbader series, there are several loose ends regarding minor characters that, having not been tied up, leaves you never finding out what happens to them. This could have been easily remedied with very little time and effort- Publishers, just give Lustbader an extra week to tie up the ends! All in all, still worth reading if you have enjoyed Lustbader's previous Bourne books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Save yourselfBy readerI bought this because I was a big fan of Ludlum's series years ago, hadn't revisited since his death. This is probably the worst book I've read in the past 10 years. Only made it to page 55 before I threw it away in disgust (and I NEVER do that). The dialogue could have come from a seventh grader. The plot is utterly incomprehensible. It seems like the writer just slapped a bunch of s**t on a wall and gathered it into book form. A part of my life that I can never get back.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
