About the AuthorI was born and raised in Florida and now live in Tennessee. The South is as much a main character in my books as any of the people that populate them. From dirt roads in Alabama to coastal fishing towns in the Florida Panhandle, the south is so wonderfully filled with atmosphere and interesting people that I don't really see any reason for my writing to leave home. I write the occasional literary or women's fiction book, but my time is focused right now on The Forgotten Coast Florida series. This series, set in Apalachicola, FL, is a noirish suspense series, dripping with atmosphere and flawed, human, witty characters. The first four books in the series have an overarcing story that isn't resolved until book four (Landfall, releasing at the end of July 2015), but also subplots and mayhem and overall sinister dealings that are resolved in each book. The first four books are a foundation for the rest of the series, which will serve more as standalone novels. Whether you're reading See You or one of the Forgotten Coast books, you'll find they have in common dry humor, a good deal of atmosphere and characters who are people, rather than caricatures. I love these people, from 90-year old Creole nanny Miss Evangeline, to the droll and honorable Jack Canfield, to strong but damaged cop Maggie Redmond, and even the hilariously inappropriate and dangerously charming bad guy, Bennett Boudreaux. I hope that you'll meet them all, and love them all as I do. what is the best fantasy book series of all time Landfall (The Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense Series) (Volume 4)

This is my favorite of the Forgotten Coast Series so far perhaps because of the description of the hurricane and certainly because the mystery of the strange attraction between Maggie and Mr. Boudreaux is finally coming to light. As a life long resident of the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast and a frequent visitor to the Apalach, St. George Island area, I have lived through many hurricanes and can identify with the horrifying descriptions in LANDFALL. (#HurricaneIvan) It's a surprise to me that I have become fond of Mr. Boudreaux and I was relieved at the outcome of this story. Thank you Ms McKenna for your commitment to this series. I am enjoying it and find it to be a great way to pass the hot, humid days of a NW Florida summer.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. LandfallBy Awanda WillardMaggie sure has a difficult but encouraging life. Maggie and Wyatt and the family have been through a great deal of trouble, but they continue to survive. Maggie save Bennett and herself, she has great kids very unique and special. Hopefully Maggie and Wyatt get to have their 3 date this time without having all hell break loose. Great characters all around really have enjoyed the series so far and can't wait to finish the series. You are a wonderful writer great job.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I like this series a lot!By DocI really like this series. The characters are interesting without bogging down the fast moving and intriguing plot. I often get impatient when a whodunit writer gets into the romantic life of their protagonist but McKenna handles the emotional lives of her characters interestingly. The various threads have become integral to the stories and add richness. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, although south of this setting, and really like her use of the wildness of the Gulf, the land, and the people who work it. Thanks for a great series. Will read them all!
