SFSignal.com on LegendThe Roswell Incident--whether legend, fact, or some combination of both--has inspired countless novels and movies over the years, but David Lynn Golemon's Event peels back the layers of Roswell with refreshing originality. The action is spectacularly cinematic, the characters compelling, and the story is a flat-out adrenaline rush that pits real-world, cutting-edge military technology against a literally out-of-this-world threat. Even better, the Event Group itself is one of the best fictional agencies to arise in the literature of government conspiracies. Golemon is a really good read for anyone who enjoys government conspiracy theories and ancient alien theories. Golemon creates a rich and exciting world that spans across eons of time as it explains the secrets of Mars, Earth, and the forgotten history of mankind. While Legacy is admittedly the first book in Golemon's series I have read, (it looked interesting on the public library shelf) I plan to read the rest of them in the near future. Golemon's voice and easy-to-read writing style bring the action and adventure of Legacy to life as the drama plays out in a well-structured timeline that takes place between the Nazi's of World War II and what appears to be the very near future. Political intrigue, governmental posturing, and religious fanatics who are hell-bent on maintaining the unquestioning superiority of their brand of God all combine to make Legacy a suspenseful, action-packed Science Fiction story that is well worth the reader's time.Royce Sears[...]0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A bit disappointing.By Blue DragonflyI have two of the Event group books from Audible, that deal with the aliens. I think they are David L. Golemon's best books. When I purchased the 3rd one in the series, "Overlord" I realized I was missing a middle book, "Legacy" which wasn't available on audio. I'm happy that it was offered for Kindle. Though the story could be better, it fills in the missing info that is referred back to in "Overlord". Unfortunately, Mr. Goleman has gone a bit over the top with the religious fanatics and their evil plans. These books would be every bit as exciting without all the "bad guys". They are good adventures without having all the nefarious side plots.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Wow, What A RideBy Ian J. Hayes Read this book now; if you haven't read the previous Event Group thrillers by Mr Golemon, I recommend reading them first to establish the background. But then dive into Legacy without delay. Every once in a while a book comes along that deals with questions that we often wonder about, such as "how did everything begin", or "where did we come from", or "is there anybody else out in space", or "what created the asteroid belt", or "how did the moon get there"? This book deals with questions like these in a realistic way using the best theories in actual existence. It puts our usual band of heroes at the threshold between reality and science fiction, and the journey there is a thrill ride. Without revealing too much, here are some words from the back cover: return to the moon, human skeletons over 700 million years old, human heritage, a war that began a billion years ago. I will add just a bit more - ancient scientific mysteries and a rampaging ancient legacy. In case you might be thinking that this is just science fiction drivel and you are not a fan of such writings, let me assure you that it is not (quite). The Event Group, as depicted in these novels, is a scientific-military organization (hidden black ops budget style) working in today's world, who travel the globe responding to incidents of legend, myth, and strange artifacts that could prove detrimental to humankind. They use today's weaponry and scientific tools to deal with things not usually associated with normal science. These books are far and away some of the most enjoyable that I have read. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
