About the AuthorI was born and raised in Florida and now live in Tennessee. The South is as much a main character in my books as any of the people that populate them. From dirt roads in Alabama to coastal fishing towns in the Florida Panhandle, the south is so wonderfully filled with atmosphere and interesting people that I don't really see any reason for my writing to leave home. I write the occasional literary or women's fiction book, but my time is focused right now on The Forgotten Coast Florida series. This series, set in Apalachicola, FL, is a noirish suspense series, dripping with atmosphere and flawed, human, witty characters. The first four books in the series have an overarcing story that isn't resolved until book four (Landfall, releasing at the end of July 2015), but also subplots and mayhem and overall sinister dealings that are resolved in each book. The first four books are a foundation for the rest of the series, which will serve more as standalone novels. Whether you're reading See You or one of the Forgotten Coast books, you'll find they have in common dry humor, a good deal of atmosphere and characters who are people, rather than caricatures. I love these people, from 90-year old Creole nanny Miss Evangeline, to the droll and honorable Jack Canfield, to strong but damaged cop Maggie Redmond, and even the hilariously inappropriate and dangerously charming bad guy, Bennett Boudreaux. I hope that you'll meet them all, and love them all as I do. what are web forms used for Awash (The Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense Series) (Volume 6)

Another Steller chapter in the Apalatch life on the Forgotten CoastBy BeachReaderIf only Dawn McKenna could write as fast as we can read her wonderful tales of life in what appears to be a small, quiet coastal town. Her characters are marvelously well developed, so much so that you feel if you visited this town you would recognize Boudreaux, Miss Evangeline, " Stoopid" as they went about their business. The stories are quintessentially Southern, yet they could be set in any small town. There is no privacy for those who may wish to be less visible. Yet one glaring secret remains unspoken, continuing to impact lives directly and indirectly, for three generations. When will it come to light and its powerful hold on many lives be diminished ?5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. ET With a Taser!By Wayne Stinnett, Author of the Jesse McDermitt Caribbean Adventure SeriesWhat can I say? I've read all of the author's books and they just get better and better. Picking up a new Dawn Lee McKenna novel is like dropping by a friend's house that you haven't seen in some time, then a bunch of other old friends drop in unexpectedly. Her characters are people I've grown to like and miss, when they're not around for awhile. Her writing style is downright entertaining. You'll feel what's happening to the characters and there are times when you will laugh out loud.ET with a taser? Seriously? I still laugh thinking about Wyatt's assessment of the crime scene at the ice cream store.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Fun read and well worth the price to enjoy the entire series!By Frank RushGoing on a blind recommendation from Wayne Stinnett (Author) wayne@waynestinnett.com, i purchased book one in the series which I enjoyed. Received one of her books free through BookBub later which I also enjoyed.Reading a review from another reader gave negative review to shortness of early books which he felt could have been reduced to one.Further, the person stated by reading the latest book there was no reason to purchase the earlier books.I DISAGREE! The price for the series is less than one book by a better known author. So, the author is entitled to income for the pleasureable reading time she provides. She also improved in each subsequent book. Now, that out of the way.....the book series.Set in Apalachicola environs the characters take on a local flair especially if you are familiar with the area. You should read the series from book one so as not to miss some of the nuances of details that helps develop the players and the overall plot.In fact after I had received the later book, I purchased and read the missing ones then reread the later free book.Boy, I am glad I did as it brought many details to life. The facts she includes of the locals, especially the Oystercatchers, (Oysterwomen/men?!?) is interesting.I believe if you sign up on McKennas web site you can get one of the books free. But, I believe she deserves the income and feel the minimal price is well worth it for the enjoyment!I look forward favorably to her next book.
