It's a great collection of short stories from up and coming authors who would soon make it big time writing future Star Wars novels. Because the characters are all present in the cantina at one point or another during the episode: A New Hope, there can't be as much complex character development as one would wish for. Partly because A) this is a short story format and B) the objective of each story is to contribute to the interconnectedness of the entire novel. What's nice (or not so nice) is that these stories offer you perspectives and connected stories about the characters in the cantina. Some authors reveal hidden facts about the story you read one or two chapters ago that other authors wrote. It's rather quite cool. Other authors don't really spend too much effort tying in their story in a unique and interesting way, but then again, you don't see any star wars novels made by them for very long. All in all, a very rare and interesting look at some famous background characters which is a nice change of pace.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It's not amazing, but not badBy CarstenTales from the Mos Eisley Cantina has some good stories, but also some very uninteresting ones that will make you anxious to get them over with. The Band's Tale: Kind of boring, but informative 5/10Greedo's Tale: The best of the book 10/10Tonnika Sisters: Not well written, kind of confusing 6/10Muftak Kabe: I really liked this one 8/10Hammerhead's Tale: Liked this one too 8/10Bartender's Tale: This one is just filler material, not very interesting at all 4/10Nightily: It was unexpected and alright 6/10Devaronian's Tale: Pretty boring, filler material 5/10The Jawa's Tale: I really liked this one a lot 9/10The Ranat's Tale: A tie-in with The Jawa's Tale, all I can say is somewhat filler 6/10The Stormtrooper's Tale: A drag at times, but a quite unexpected endingSoup's On: This one is absolute garbage and completely filler 2/10The Spacer's Tale: Some of the dialogue I find unbelievable, but I liked it 8/10Doctor Death: It was really ok 7/10Drawing the Maps of Peace: This one was very good 9/10One Last Night: I thought this one was confusing but better than some of the others 6/10I recommend taking this out from the library or buying it used in mass paperback. It's worth reading, especially for the cantina lovers out there, but it is in no way one of the best Star Wars books.P.S. Go prequels!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Scum and Villians From A Thousand worldsBy K.L. CocKayneThis is an excellent collection of short stories, it meet my expectations and a lot more. I am alost done with it I have one story left and part of another to complete. Once you get started reading this book you will not want to put it down. It goes more in depth of the characters from the cantina, and each has great story. I would recommend this Star Wars collection to anyone who loves to read; especially to those die hard Star Wars fans that want to be taken to a galaxy far away.THX,Kris L. CocKayne
