what is a book enthusiast The Pickering Collection

Pickering was a marvelously witty author, whose observations on hunting and fishing should appeal to any modern reader. Some old sporting books are pretty dull, or contain a bunch of outdated how-to advice, or assume the reader is accustomed to a world of servants, perpetual leisure, and limitless wealth. Not these. I guess you could say he was a kind of John Gierach or Calvin Trillin of his age.I can't comment on the "new" Derrydale edition, since I haven't seen it; but I would be very surprised if it were not nicely done. Assembling a collection the originals of these books would cost as much as a trip to Alaska.
