DOESN'T GET ANY BETTERBy BigDrumDaddyJesse McDermitt, former Recon Marine Sniper, just recently having given up his position with a little known governmental agency finds himself unwillingly sucked right back into the action and potential for danger as the owner and developer of some high tech defense equipment goes missing. Jesse's daughter is none too happy that he might be putting himself in danger once more, and truth be told - neither is Jesse. But he can't deny, this is what he was born for (even if he does feel he's getting a bit long in the tooth for this life), With the help of his girlfriend Linda, and Agency Chief Duece - and a few close friends associates - Jesse manages to keep the news and the investigation relatively quiet, and confined to those he trusts most. And even when a plan of action is agreed upon, it's kept close to home - just the way Hesse likes it. Along the way, Jesse learns the answer to another mystery, makes neither friend or two, and manages to accomplish what he set out to do without causing his daughter any undue worry.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Author great series. Start with first book.By Darline A. DuncanWayne Stinnett is a great author. I read the first book in this series simply because he was a "new to me" author and I remembered how much I enjoyed John D. Macdonald's Travis McGee series about the Florida Keys. Stinnett also loved Travis McGee and this hero is like Travis McGee, 60 years later, with all the new technology. I felt I was actually seeing, hearing feeling the locale and I love the way he describes and moves his characters without a lot of unnecessary explanations. His dialogue is believable. He has lots of feelings, love scenes, emotional interchange between characters but without the steamy explicit sex scenes. I would rather leave that to the imagination than read it. Leave them closing the bedroom door but not participating in their physical activity. These are books for all ages. I read them, My daughters read them and I am now sharing with my grandchildren (young teens). I have read the first ten books and am eagerly awaiting the next one.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A quick and easy readBy JohnHaving read all of Wayne Stinnett's books in the "Fallen" series, I was pleasantly surprised to see this edition advertised and quickly downloaded it to my Kindle. Fallen Tide read differently for me after almost a year-long absence from the series, this story seemed to lack much of the detail and side trips that Jesse and his group usually took during a story. In this edition, when Jesse and his group stumble upon the kidnappers, the story quickly wrapped up during the final 10% of the book. Perhaps, it is due to this book being the shortest of all others in the series.I still enjoyed the story, it was suspenseful and gave readers an up close look at many of the military weapons and secrets. When I finished, I discovered that I had also missed #7 as well - I quickly purchased it and plan to read it next. I'm hoping that it will be more engaging. On a final note, Wayne has eliminated Pescador, the wonder dog. I've enjoyed reading about this animal and have marveled over many of the things this pet did. His absence going forward will be missed!I'll be watching for #9 to come out and will certainly purchase the book when its available. Thanks Wayne for an enjoyable series so far!John Podlaski, authorCherries - A Vietnam War Novel
