I have been waiting for Steele's story and I loved it! Steele is the leader of one of KGI's undercover groups. When one of his team members is hurt while on a mission, Steele is forced to take him to see Dr. Maren Scofield who runs a clinic in Costa Rica. Steele avoids Maren as much as possible because he is so attracted to her and that's one itch he has no intention of scratching! As circumstances force them together, Steele decides that one night of sex will rid him of his insane attraction. After a second night, he is hooked for good and so is Maren. When a KGI mission forces Steele to leave her before they can talk about a future together, Maren is kidnapped by a crazy rich man who is obsessed with her. He takes her and disappears from the country to parts unknown. And so the story begins. Both Steele and Maren are forced to face and come to terms with some truths in this book that change their lives forever. Seeing Steele brought to his knees by a woman makes it worth the read. For past readers of the KGI series, Titan makes another appearance in this book which I loved. Action, sex, love, romance - this book has it all! Very DisappointingBy AlamitoI have enjoyed this series very much, but I could barely finish this book. The character and plot development are poor, and the dialog and ruminations are sappy, unbelievable, and never-ending. Particularly since there was no relationship development at all. One night of sex, and BOOM, two independent, aloof people are gushing. Almost no action, until the end of the book, which is a total departure from the rest of this series. Steele's character makes no sense, when compared to the earlier depiction of him in other books. I expected to learn some deep dark secrets about what "forged" Steele, but all you see is a backstory that, while sad, does not rise to the level one would expect for this character. Maren's character is more believable, and a rather refreshing departure from Banks' other heroines, but, again, not developed enough. Compare this to the development and strength of Shea's character in her story with Nathan, and you can't believe the same person wrote it. And it lacks the bite-your-nails tension that Banks has excelled at in the past. SPOILER ALERT: The other part that drove me nuts was that this story revolves around pregnancy, and Banks seems to be becoming obsessed with that story line. I have three kids, and I love my family, but I don't read romance/action novels to spend the entire book hearing people gush about pregnancy and babies; particularly not when they haven't even developed a relationship between themselves.While I can heartily recommend most of this series, do yourself and favor, and skip this one.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Ice Man and The DoctorBy Melanie MMaya Banks has written another suspense fillled romance. She crafts scenes that evoke tension, anxiety and danger so well that the reader lives through every nail biting, edge of your seat moment. The highs and lows are remarkable and poignant.Steele, the ice man, finally acts on his attraction to Dr Maren Scofield. He swoops in and overwhelms her with his need. In return she gives voice to her lusty thoughts of him.what starts out as a one night stand becomes so much more. When Maren's life is endangered, Steele moves heaven and earth to ensure her safety.Steele's journey from being the aloof, controlled KGI team leam leader to the emotionally engaged, thoughtful and loving man was enthralling. I was brought to tears several times while reading the deeply emtional scenes created my Ms Banks. Just about the time I think she can out do her last book, she amazingly ups the bar and gives her readers a fantastic reading experience.
