Its nave, including its submarine fleet, is still very formidable. The of a famous admiral, taking his submarine toward the northeast coast of America, to present it to the President of the United States is unique, to say the least.I am sure that many readers are familiar with the exciting, suspenseful events that take place. For those few readers who are not familiar, it would ruin things, and are not, therefore, disclosed here. The only disappointing events I found in this novel happened after the conclusion of "The Main Events". These disappointments lie in chapter after chapter, in Russia, where Russian authorities, intent on fixing blame for the defection, and/or establishing political controls that would prevent future occurrences of traitorous behavior.Fortunately, these chapters may be quickly skimmed, and do not affect what is truly a very good read, and one which I recommend highly.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great action, great story, great believability!By jaxbillI read this book 30+ years ago, while I remember it broadly, it still held my interest because of the author's dedication to the real aspects of the situation. Having just finished it, my heart rate is elevated because this story is so well crafted.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Adventure on the high tech seasBy CustomerIf your soul yearns for adventure on the high seas, and you love the excitement of Cold War military tensions boiling over this is the book for you. Even if you just like all things navy and submarine you will get a great deal of enjoyment out of reading this book. Clancy does a great job of being accurate in his use of terms and descriptions of equipment so that the reader feels like they know a little bit more about the subject than they did before.
