Basically he writes the same book over and over again, with slightly different villains, slightly different plots, and the same or very similar protagonists. Nevertheless I find his books enjoyable and am always looking forward to the next one.For one thing, there's a glut of trivial information about this and that, and I like trivia, especially about real events and real places. For another, the author's attitude toward the received wisdom of the ages varies from book to book, but is always somehow curmudgeonly, and I like curmudgeons. The goal this time around is to find the original stones on which the Ten Commandments were inscribed, and to find them before the bad guys do. As always, the bad guys make this very difficult but the good guys (or rather the good guy and gal, named Chris and Angela) always manage to survive and even thrive, while the bad guys meet appropriate ends, only to be replaced by similar bad guys in the next book.I'm deliberately making this sound shallow and contrived, because it is. Both. But somehow it's fun anyway. If you like the adventure stories of Dan Brown you will probably like these too. Not as witty, not as intricately plotted, not as breathlessly suspenseful, but somehow always effective. I recommend the books of James Becker, including this one.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great and exciting book! Ignore the "author's notes" at the end.By EliannaGGreat and intriguing book. Since I am an avid reader and a passionate Messianic Christian/Jew, I truly love to read about Israeli antiquities and Bible artifacts that have been hidden for thousands of years and that are extremely meaningful to us believers! I enjoyed this book. The only thing I don't like is the author's comments at the end, which are in general very misleading since I don't think he is a believer in Jesus or a Christian or Jew and he really doesn't have an in-depth knowledge of the Christian or Hebrew Bible. He should stop writing those "author's notes". The rest of it is great!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fast paced, interesting and fun read!By Nolachic1Becker's books pull me in almost immediately and never lose their hold. Many times things that happen are either too predictable or too convenient for the characters to be believable. However, it's a thriller and not real life, so I don't let those things slow me down. I really enjoy that his books are based in history with the facts at the end. I can't wait to read the next one!
