From BooklistA young archaeologist named Julia uncovers a mystery while working on a dig: a skull with a hole in the forehead made from a kind of drill. When she tells her mentor, he promptly fires her and tells her shes wasting his time. A short time later, hes found dead. Halfway around the world, a photographer named Jake is asked to help an attorney near a 2,000-year-old site. Murder and mayhem follow, with ties to an ancient legend that appears to be frighteningly real. Knox examines how belief in a higher power can force people to act against their true nature. The novel drags a bit at times, but overall it contains enough genuine intrigue to interest fans of historical-conspiracy thrillers. --Jeff Ayers Praise for The Lost Goddess:"Mr. Knox's speculations are good ones, making you wonder what might really have been going on in dictators' secret laboratories." -- The Wall Street Journal"How terrific to find a new thriller in which the dramatic action emerges from an exemplary mix of first-rate research, interesting politics and credible characters! How Do You Find The Genre Of A Book

"The Lost Goddess" is Just an "OK" StoryBy Robert FoxThe development of the story took awhile; trying to explain the rationale behind Pol Pot's murder of millions of Cambodians during the 1970's .... the writer was working too hard to pull two sets of different characters, an archaeologist and journalist together to solve a "mystery" at the end of the story. I was not really sure where the story line was going until the last third of the book. For me, the plot was a bit too far fetched ..... and this was not as good a read or story as Tom Knox's first book, "The Genesis Secret". I did expect better from the author after reading "The Genesis Secret", so for me, it was "just OK" ....1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This was SO good!By J. SelfI took this with me on vacation to SE Asia. I swallowed it whole. I missed a night of sleep staying up to read most of it. I understand this is the 3rd book that the author wrote. Well done. I hardly read fiction and my wife talked me into giving it a try and I settled on this. I am so glad I did. I was engrossed and transported but I also learned a great deal about the people, culture and history of Cambodia. The book is fiction but many times I would read something, pause to pick up my ipad and look up some reference. BOOM. There it was, Mind blown AND entertained. I will be watching for more from Mr. Knox.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Gotta wade through this one to get the payoffBy D.BirkI had a hard time wading through this one. It's a very interesting premise for a story, but the book is way too long, and actually boring in many places. A good editor would have worked wonders to turn "laboring through the story" into "can't put it down". I'd recommend it with reservations.
