PRAISE FOR ALPHA:"Alpha is hands down, the most exciting, adrenaline-pumping, butt-kicking novel I've read in years. Rucka is the real deal. If this one doesn't make you stay up late rooting for the good guys, you don't have a heartbeat. Highly recommended!"Christopher Reich, New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Deception and Numbered Account"Read Greg Rucka. It's that simple. Open one of his books and what you've got is a fistful of dynamite."The Cincinnati Enquirer"Rucka gets his new series featuring Ex-Delta Force Master Sergeant Jad Bell off to a smashing start with this pitch-perfect thriller. This lean, mean thriller with just the right amount of character development and unexpected complications will appeal to all who enjoy this genre but particularly to readers who like a strong hero along the lines of Lee Child's Jack Reacher. Highly recommended."Library Journal (starred review)About the AuthorGreg Rucka is the New York Times bestselling author of almost two dozen novels, including the Atticus Kodiak and Tara Chace series, and has won multiple Eisner awards for his graphic novels. Better and faster than Alpha Highly RecommendedBy Ray TaylorIf I could introduce a reader to Greg Rucka, I would hand over copies of Alpha, and Bravo, and tell them to turn on the answering machine, brew a pot of coffee, and hang a "Do Not Disturb!" sign on their door. The action reads, and feels REAL. The stories are excellently constructed, and would likely be best read in sequence... A before B.Bravo picks up literally where Alpha left off, and propels you into an action sequence worthy of anything you can read today penned by other respected combat operations authors.I found Rucka years ago through Finder and Keeper, and earlier Queen and Country novels.I think Jad Bell is as good a character as Rucka has ever created. I hope this is a long series. There are plenty of letters remaining after A and B.Highly recommended.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. As good as it getsBy FrippWhen I read an exciting escapist book of this genre I do not want it to end so what I do is start another book and then come back to the one I stopped reading. This is what I have done with this book. Rucka is the real deal and I have read most of his previous books. Bravo is the second Bell book in what I hope is an on going series. His first book is a lights out gripping story from the first chapter. The second Bell book is just as good and it will keep your interest thru out. In our crazy world as outlandish as this plot may sound as we all know fictions is sometimes the truth we do not want to think about. Terrorist on US soil planning multiple attacks on our civilian population. Bell and his team is the only thing that can stop it from happening or can they?1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not as Good as Book 1By Charles F. KartmanMr. Rucka is a fine writer but I am going to be the outlier among present reviewers; chalk it up to personal taste. I found a good deal to like in "Bravo" but will emphasize a few things I was less pleased with to justify my lower rating. The more or less consistent use of "handles" for his characters. This was the only negative for me in "Alpha", and I found it increasingly difficult to figure out who was who among the team, or to really care about people identified mostly by off-putting code names. The lack of interesting locale. Wilsonville made "Alpha" stand apart from other thrillers, but "Bravo" has nothing comparable going for it.The main story is familiar enough (minor spoiler alert), in fact it somewhat repeats "Alpha", but there is a secondary story that almost overwhelms it in interest and intensity. That is the theme of female undercover operatives and their attachment to their controllers. It is a powerful message and quite well done, but it is odd to find Jad Bell edged out of the center of the story. I found the parts of the story involving Jad's deaf daughter Athena to be quite good.I won't say more about the unraveling of the threat except to note that I don't understand the need to invent enemies when there are so many real ones around.
