You will fight with him, hunger with him, and adventure with him in this book. Between this novel and Thoms other novel titled "Sea to Shining Sea" I've become a huge lover of the Clark family. This summer I'm actually planning a trip with my grandparents to visit George Clarks memorial in Indiana. This is a story that will stick with you for the rest of your life.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Vivid characters, untold storyBy Arthur W. TurfaThis is indeed a neglected part of American history, and it deserves some attention, both scholarly and historical fiction. The strength of this book consists of the vividly-drawn characters Readers will feel that they actually know them because Thom depicts them so well. For such a long book, however, the pace is as slow at times as it was walking through the wilderness swamps and mires. The long marches could have been handled in a briefer narrative. Nonetheless, I was glad to have read it.
