Maybe twice?By Cristina S.This book is really hard to describe (especially without giving any spoilers...but I'll try my best). I thought it would be scarier than it was. The "Backward" at the beginning was a little spooky. But it was not really a suspense, horror, romance or thriller. At best I'd place it in the historical fiction category with time traveling. You need to pay attention while reading as it jumps around a bit, and time passes quickly in some sections. The story is split into three parts and I believe I liked the middle the least as I didn't like Rachel's character much. As a fact I didn't particularly like Shay or Brandy much either. I did like the secondary characters a lot though, especially Thora K. I would have loved it if Millhiser had gone more into the backstory of the mirror, more than what was described in the "backward." And why does it kill some people but not others? This novel would be great for a book club. It's definitely discussion worthy. I might read it again in a few months to a year as I'll pick up on things that I may not have read the first time around.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good read!By CustomerIn California, my mom handed me this book. I was 14,She told me I would love it. She was right. In my 20's my mom and I were discussing books that we both read and the mirror was brought up. We couldn't remember who the author was but she wanted to read it again. We searched but couldn't find the right one . The small town we moved to in Kansas 1950 was the population, had it. So she read it then I read it. In 2007 my mom wanted to find the book again but no library around here carried it. In2012 my mom passed away, but I never quit looking. So I read books now on a kindle and two days ago I thought of this book and searched for titles With the word mirror in it , man there are thousands of them. And came across it so I purchased it. So I dedicate your book to my mother's memory and her love of reading. So thank you. Linda2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Still a classic for me.By DearPrudanceI read this in middle school the first time then @ least two more times throughout the years. It's a wonderful fantasy about time travel and switching lives. I wouldn't do it justice if I tried to describe anymore. Download a sample. It may pique your interest. Published in the middle 70's, it may seem dated to some younger readers because the mention of 70's current events, but it's still a well written strong story that holds up to present day readers who enjoy a good fantasy story.
