BuckleyGreig Beck's love letter to giant sharks and undersea mysteries is a resounding success. In just a short time, Beck establishes an interesting premise - scientists discover a massive underground body of water beneath Alaska, and subsequent exploration reveals a believable world full of primeval danger. And the biggest danger of all is the Megalodon, a massive prehistoric precursor to our modern Great White. When the Megalodon is unleashed into the surface world, the tension really escalates. It's a lean, mean story, but Beck still finds time for some character development. The chapters devoted to the exploration of the underground sea are particularly fun; as in certain previous Arcadian adventures, Beck is an old hand at creating alien, yet realistic, environments for his characters to explore. All in all, a fast-paced, fun read, one guaranteed to keep your attention through to the last page.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Awesome and Believable monster story - should be a movie!By Chalie WAwesome scare the _____ out of you! I never read any of the Peter Benchley novels so I have nothing to compare it to. The closest thing I could compare it too was a mix of Jurassic Park meets Jaws. Great story and characters. Some very likable, others, not so much... ;-). I don't want to say anything about the story as I don't want to give anything away. I just hope that if you do give this book a shot that you enjoy it as much as I did.P.S. Are they still here?By KSI've been binging on books about the possibility of creatures supposedly extinct but still living in the deep seas. Grieg Beck has the ability to make you wonder are they still here and I'm so glad not to be close to any water. I've read most of his books and he hasn't let me down yet.
