She leaned close and whispered, "Put this in your pocket." Well, I did. A week passed. Now, she didn't say anything about reading the thing, but I ride the bus, see, the B6 out of Canarsie, Brooklyn, and I get off at Flatbush Ave., about a twenty-five minute ride, and a man needs somewhere to put his eyes. I pulled out Pelton's book and damn near missed my stop! I'm not kidding. I was laughing like a lunatic, but when it dawned on me that I was laughing at myself, at my parents, and at my bus brethren, well, I was ... chastened. Repressed memories flooded in! Foaming at the mouth, I wandered through the streets, fondling stray dogs and humming Start Me Up by The Stones. Talk about an ax to smash the frozen sea within me! My insides are a jacuzzi now, bubbling and hot. Who is this Theodore Pelton? Where does he come from? I don't know, but I never ride public transportation without him. Recently I passed a few copies of this book to some friends, and the exact same thing happened to them! Yeah, Pelton's in my pocket, and I see things differently now.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A masterful journey from truth to whimsy and beyond!By Florine M. MelnykI thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection of short stories. Pelton's stories are captivating and thought provoking, as well as entertaining! He challenges the reader to travel beyond the confines of conventional thought and explore the possibilities that lie beyond. His stories run the gamut from the stark realities of society's flaws in, "Friendly Fire", to the pure fun and whimsy of life, in "The Twist". His style of fiction is a beautiful oasis in the desert of "mainstream" publications.
