Great Adventure, Breathtaking fun!!!!By kubwell627I must start by saying Crichton is my favorite author. The great train robbery is very easy to get into, and hold's your interest through out. Crichton tells the story in a very unique way wherein he tells you facts about life in Victorian England, and then infuses that factoid with how it factors into the planning of the heist. The true story is of course sacrificed on the altar of entertainment, but I don't mind. If you have enjoyed his other books, or you enjoy reading true crime stories, or just like the history channel, I think you will love this book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great quick readBy new york johnCrighton puts us into the England of the 1850's by using the vocabulary and slang of the time. I originally read the book not long after it was published and I can honestly say I enjoyed it more the second time around. If you saw and recall the film version you'll be amazed at how closely it followed the book. Crichton's word pictures and dialogue put the reader in the time and place perfectly and you'll find yourself rooting for the robbery to succeed despite all its obstacles and for the robbers to triumph. A fun read. Thoroughly enjoyable.
