Cold climate and cold blooded evilBy Ronaele WhittingtonVivid descriptions of northern Alaska's tundra, snow, and icy wind drove me to wear thermal clothing while reading. This made me believe that anyone who lives there should be called a survivor. Anyhow, the bad guys, including ISIS proxies, display the worst of cruelty and evil so that chemical weapons can be launched against the USA. A network of Americans have armed themselves with highly developed toxins which were to be kept secret by a Russian scientist. His daughter living with him, along with her brother in New York City, link up with other cruel people to release the toxins. Enter a variety of collaborating law enforcement agencies along with Jericho Quinn and colleagues. They meet the challenge head on, killing as needed, so that America can be safe a little while longer..1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Highly Exciting ReadBy Martin FrickeFantastic action as Jericho Quinn, a tough Texas FBI gal Khaki Beaudine who''s Jack Thibodaux's cousin, the beautiful and deadly Ronnie Garcia, August Bowen, and others try to stop poison gas from Russia getting into the hands of uber-patriotic Russian cells in the US who are using it to kill thousands of Americans. The FSB and GRU also mount their own operations to keep the patriots from starting an all-out war with America, but their paths clash violently with those of Jericho, primarily due to the brutality of the Russians' methods.Firearm, knife, and hand-to-hand confrontations are plentiful and well described. All this takes place in the backwoods of Alaska, which the author describes in captivating detail. The survival of Quinn and Beaudine in the frozen outdoors as they chase the last of the poison gas supply is highly perilous and exciting.I personally become a little frustrated by the style of writing used here at times, one used more frequently by many other authors, of whiplashing the reader from the peak of a crisis in one subplot to another subplot until that one reaches a peak and then jerking him away yet again. Apart from that pet peeve, the book is very well written with a minor caveat that it could have benefited from a little more editing.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Better Than Ever !!By Leland A CluneI thought December would never gethere! Thank you Marc for FINALLY getting Field of Fire completed and on the market. It is equal or better than it's predecessors. Living in Alaska for many years I find your descriptions right on and so geographically accurate.
